  2. DCA Non-Executive Volunteer Opportunities • Outdoor Rink Operations • Spring Clean-up Day • Ball Hockey • Canada Day

Outdoor Rink Operations Manager Oct to March • Review ice tender and contract • Supervise ice contractor activities and ensure contractor is fulfilling contract • Act as liaison between DCA and contractor • Check ice conditions regularly • Update website with flag status - red, yellow, green - as ice conditions change • Coordinate opening and closing schedule for the trailer and DCC

  4. DCC Supervisor for Public Skating Supervision Nov to March • Recruit, schedule and supervise volunteers (or paid position) to monitor on ice activities of skaters and use of DCC building to ensure a safe environment and protect DCC assets • Open and close DCC per the public skating schedule

  5. Outdoor Hockey Convener Nov to March • Attend DCA meetings prior to season commencement • Coordinate registration • Recruit coaches • Point of contact for parents and coaches during the season • Bring any concerns to the attention of the DCA (registration refunds, ice conditions, scheduling, etc.)

  6. Spring Clean-up DayApril - May • Plan activity and recruit volunteers • Register event with City of Ottawa • Write article for website, newsletter and EMC • Attend activity and supervise volunteers • Volunteers to perform light maintenance/repairs, painting of DCC; clean-up DCC property • Complete wrap-up report and submit to City of Ottawa

  7. Canteen CoordinatorSoftball (May/June) and Hockey (Jan/March) • Purchase supplies for canteen • Ensure adequate volunteers to operate canteen (potential for paid position) • Supervise canteen operations

Ball Hockey Convener April to June • Attend DCA meetings prior to season commencement • Coordinate registration • Recruit coaches • Point of contact for parents and coaches during the season • Bring any concerns to the attention of the DCA (registration refunds, scheduling, use of facilities, etc.)

Project Manager for Canada DayMarch to July • Attend DCA meetings, coordinate Canada activities and volunteers as planned by the DCA • Ensure that activities of the Communications Coordinator, Canteen Coordinator are on schedule • Ensure that adequate volunteers are recruited for the day of the event • Coordinate and supervise set-up and tear-down

Communications Coordinator for Canada DayApril to July • Attend DCA Canada Day planning meetings and coordinate communications • Send invitations to local MPP, MLA, Mayor, City Councillor • Write article(s) for website, newsletter and local media (EMC) • Contact EMC re: local photographer/journalist for day of event • Create posters/flyer, photocopy and distribute to local businesses • Distribute and post flyers in Kinburn, Constance Bay, Fitzroy and Carp businesses and community centers • Write follow-up article for website, newsletter and local media (EMC)

  11. Canada Day Canteen CoordinatorMay-July • Purchase supplies for canteen and BBQ, using previous year information as a guideline • Recruit and ensure sufficient volunteers to operate canteen • Supervise canteen operations on day of event, including set-up and tear-down

Canada Day Beer Tent CoordinatorMay-July • Purchase beer at Beer Store and coolers at LCBO using previous year information as a guideline (DCA to obtain liquor permit) • Recruit and ensure sufficient volunteers, 19 years of age and older, to operate canteen • Ensure volunteer(s) with Smart Serve certification in attendance while beer tent is in operation • Supervise beer tent operations on day of event, including set-up and tear-down • Return empties and unopened cases to Beer Store and LCBO

  13. Set-up volunteers for Canada DayJuly 1st • These volunteers are required only for July 1st (morning to 2:00pm) • Set-up two large marquis tents and tent for canteen and bar • tables and chairs, benches • Signage on property • Temporary fencing for fireworks, ponies and dog agility demonstration areas • Table cloths and decorations • Clean BBQ’s • Fill tubs with water and ice for drinks

  14. Tear-down volunteers for Canada Day July 1st • These volunteers are required for July 1st, after fireworks • take down two marquis tents and tent for canteen and bar • put away tables and chairs, benches • remove signage • take down temporary fencing • put away leftover food, supplies, refreshments • Pick up garbage

  15. Clean-up volunteers for Canada Day July 2nd • These volunteers are required only for the day after the event, July 2nd • organize leftover items in DCC kitchen • wash utensils/dishes, etc. • clean hot dog roller and BBQ’s • clean DCC kitchen
