  1. Where we started…1988 Protesting on the streets of Christchurch… A Community Services Project facilitating the work of 18 small organisations finds itself without a home. Kate O'Sullivan, an active member of one of the groups, An OigeThreitheach, leads the response to the crisis The result – the creation of Carmichael Centre

  2. The CSP Move to Carmichael House in March 1990 – the renovation work begins…

  3. Followed in 1994 by renovations to the Gate Lodge and Coleraine House in 2000

  4. By the early 2000’s Carmichael Centre is home to 47 Resident Member Charities …The Centre is supported by FAS in running its Community Employment Schemes and by Pobal in running its Community Services Project

  5. Carmichael Centre continues to grow under the leadership of the Board and its first CEO, the late Kate O’Sullivan

  6. Facilities and Services are opened up for use by external organisations • Meeting Rooms • Catering • Postal Services • Payroll and Management Accounting Services • Training Courses and Support Services …where needs are identified, supports are developed to meet these needs…

  7. Carmichael Centre expands its reach nationally under the leadership of CEO – Ava Battles

  8. First in Ireland In 2011, Carmichael Centre becomes the first charity in Ireland to be awarded the PQASSO Quality Assurance Mark at level 1. The Centre celebrates its 21st birthday in the same year. The mark proves a fitting tribute to the hard work and commitment of so many over the years.

  9. The National reach of Carmichael Centre in 2011 • 109organisations use our Meeting Rooms and Catering • 290organisations receive customised training • 150+ attendances by Carmichael Centre staff at Community Sector related working groups and events • Services delivered on-site in 15 counties

  10. 2012 – The Next Phase of Carmichael Centre Begins… Corporate Services, Communications and Training and Consultancy are expanded to serve the rapidly increasing national client base Carmichael Centre commences work on the development of a social enterprise hub in its Richmond Office Suite National Mentors Scheme

  11. Two decades on, we still believe that community and voluntary groups large and small deserve the chance to acquire the resources, skills and knowledge that will enable them to support their members and beneficiaries…

  12. … and 22 years later, Carmichael Centre for Voluntary Groups continues to provide the resources, skills and knowledge required to help build stronger charities and Not For Profit organisations nationwide
