Rules for Note Cards. General Things to Know. One piece of information per card Note must be direct quote from the source (in quotation marks). Rule #1 for Note Cards. What comes first on the source card goes on the note card. Rule #2 for Note Cards.

  3. Rule #1 for Note Cards What comes first on the source card goes on the note card.

  4. Rule #2 for Note Cards What gets done to the source card gets done to the note card (quotation marks or underline).

  5. Rule #3 for Note Cards Print sources (and PDF files) must show a page number. Electronic sources (HTML files) will not show a page number.
