Goals • To Identify and Discuss the “Spheres” of the Earth • You Will Write and Discuss the Information and Ideas That Are Presented
The Blue Marble Captured by Apollo 17 astronauts
Surface of the Earth • We can think of the Earth as being divided into 4 distinct areas • Hydrosphere- all of the water on the planet • Atmosphere- the layer of gas around the planet • Biosphere- all life and anywhere life exists on the planet • Lithosphere- the solid parts of the planet
Hydrosphere • When we study the “Wet Earth,” we will be looking at- • The Oceans (Arctic, Indian, Atlantic, Pacific)
Hydrosphere • When we study the “Wet Earth,” we will be looking at- • Ground and Surface Fresh water
Hydrosphere • We will also look into the Interaction of the Hydrosphere with the other “Spheres” • Erosion • Weather • Making rocks and resources
Atmosphere • As we study the Atmosphere, we will look at • The composition and structure of the atmosphere
Atmosphere • As we study the Atmosphere, we will look at • How it has changed through History and where it is possibly headed in the future
Atmosphere • As we study the Atmosphere, we will look at • Climate and Weather
Biosphere • A brief history of life on earth and what lived in different times
Biosphere • As we study the Biosphere we will look at • How we, as living organisms, interact with all of the other spheres
Lithosphere • As we study the Lithosphere we will look at • What types of and How rocks are formed
Lithosphere • As we study the Lithosphere we will look at • How we interact with Lithosphere
Lithosphere • As we study the Lithosphere we will look at • The internal structure of the Earth and how it effects us
