  1. The Point Peter Fitch, St. Croix Vineyard Sunday, November 15, 2015

  2. Painful Times • Personal • Global • Horrific terror • Karuna Ezara Parikh (blogger from India)

  3. Mike Huckabee During the debate last week, I stated that we should not admit those claiming to be Syrian refugees and was condemned by the left for that position. I was right and the events in Paris affirm that. Even the far left and politically correct government of France has closed its borders. It’s time for a President who will act to protect Americans, not just talk and protect the image of Islam.

  4. A More Christlike God • Our Thursday evening study seems strangely relevant, perhaps more each week • What is our God like? • What should we be like? • The Bill Maher quote in Chapter One

  5. Matthew 17:1-8 Six days later Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John his brother, and led them up on a high mountain by themselves. 2 And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light. 3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. 4 Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, I will make three tabernacles here, one for You, and one for

  6. Matthew 17:1-8 Moses, and one for Elijah.” 5 While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!” 6 When the disciples heard this, they fell face down to the ground and were terrified. 7 And Jesus came to them and touched them and said, “Get up, and do not be afraid.” 8 And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one except Jesus Himself alone.

  7. Hebrews 1:1-3 God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, 2 in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. 3 And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power.

  8. Freedom or Love? If we make Love our goal, we receive freedom as a gift; if we make freedom our goal, we separate ourselves from all who could mar it

  9. god or God? • C. S. Lewis on our projections of God • What Dr. Gates told us about the Circle of Trust • What God is probably like . . .

  10. Matthew 21:28-32 28 “But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, ‘Son, go work today in the vineyard.’ 29 And he answered, ‘I will not’; but afterward he regretted it and went. 30 The man came to the second and said the same thing; and he answered, ‘I will, sir’; but he did not go.

  11. Matthew 21:28-32 31 Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly I say to you that the tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the kingdom of God before you. 32 For John came to you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him; but the tax collectors and prostitutes did believe him; and you, seeing this, did not even feel remorse afterward so as to believe him.

  12. Not Going • Lazy? • Or more subtle: redefined gospel to protect myself and my “freedom” • My new question: will the world do better with Syrian refugees than it did with the Jews?

  13. Adel Termos

  14. His daughter

  15. Matte Downey quoting Anne Lamott "So after an appropriate time of being stunned, in despair, we show up. Maybe we ask God for help. We do the next right thing. We buy or cook a bunch of food for the local homeless. We return phone calls, library books, smiles. We make eye contact with others, and we go to the market and flirt with old or scary unusual people who seem lonely. This is a blessed sacrament."
