  1. By Misfer Almarri Wind Turbine

  2. Depends on the size of the turbine and the average wind speed • How much power needed • What type of turbine you have • Horizontal • Vertical Wind Turbine Efficiency

  3. Horizontal • Laminar wind – smooth flow, constant velocity • Vertical • Turbulent wind- wind direction changes, velocity changes, Wind Turbine Types

  4. If you have a location u need a lot of data or Computational fluid dynamics to get the turbines performance. • the minimum speed has to be found before designing the blades. • Many turbines only start to work (or ‘cut in’) at a minimum wind speed. If the wind speed is lower than the cut in speed, then the turbine won’t turn at all. Location

  5. Blades

  6. Good materials and manufacturing methods provide the opportunity to improve wind turbine efficiency. • To design a good blade we should have law weight and high stuffiness. • We should pick up the material based on the size of the blade. Material

  7. Fiber class : this kind of material used in relatively large blades due its quality and its law cost. • Carbon –fiber : it is known as its cost-effective means for reducing weight and increasing stiffness. Material, cont

  8. light metals such as aluminum: can be used for Smaller blades due to their low price, availability, and ease of manufacture. • Disadvantage : These materials, however, require frequent maintenance during their lifetime. Material , cont
