  2. What are we learning about? • In this class we will: • Explore your creative, artistic side • Help you develop new artistic techniques • Enhance and improve your artistic skills • Realize the importance of art in our culture

  3. What should we bring to class? • A sharp pencil • Eraser • Ruler • Everything else will be provided to you, unless otherwise stated. • It is your responsibility to come to class prepared with these materials!

  4. What do you expect from us? • Come to class prepared with your materials • No talking when the teacher is talking • Respect all art materials • No phones or i-pods in class • Treat others and his/her property with respect • Always clean up after yourself • Be supportive of others and their ideas • All assignments must be turned in by the due date. • Do your best and have fun!

  5. Why Learn Art? • Art promotes activity in your brain • Helps you understand other subjects much more clearly—from math and science, to language arts and geography. • It’s a time for self-expression and inventiveness • Helps you respect another persons way of working and thinking • You can communicate your thoughts and ideas in a variety of ways.

  6. How Much Time Do We Get to Complete Stuff? • You will be given enough time for the assigned work in class and you are expected to complete your assignments in the time allotted. • There is no assigned homework (I know, it’s pretty sweet!) Only students who have missed school due to illness or trips and those who need extra time to finish up are asked to complete the work on their own time.
