  2. For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit. ~1 Peter 3:18~

  3. A New Life Be Prepared to Suffer Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from

  4. sin, so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God. ~v. 1-2~

  5. Be Prepared to Suffer Enhances Sanctification

  6. I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. ~Galatians 2:20~

  7. But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. ~Galatians 6:14~

  8. A New Life Leave the Old—v. 3-6

  9. The Old Desires • Sensuality • Passions • Drunkenness • Orgies • Drinking Parties • Lawless Idolatry

  10. Reactions With respect to this they are surprised when you do not join them in the same flood of debauchery, and they malign you. ~v. 4~

  11. Judgments But they will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. For this is why the gospel was preached even to those who are dead, that though judged in the flesh

  12. the way people are, they might live in the spirit the way God does. ~v. 5-6~ People living in sin are amassing a debt to God that they will spend all eternity paying back. ~John MacArthur~
