  4. Scenario #1 Maintain Status Quo in 2006. Move Kindergarten – Grade 3 from Sundance School to Fish Creek School in the 2007-2008 school year. Chaparral Grades 5 & 6 students remain at Fish Creek School.

  11. Scenario #4 – Effect on Fish Creek School and Sundance School Assumptions/Notes: Kingsland School has a Provincial Capacity Rating of 610 and is projected to have 28 Kindergarten and 175 Grades 1-5 students for the 2006-2007 school year.

  12. Scenario #5 Move Chaparral community Grade 5&6 students back to Maple Ridge. Move the Kindergarten –Grade 4 Regular program from Sundance School to Fish Creek School in 2006 and Grades 5 & 6 in 2007. Starting in 2007 Sundance School accommodates French Immersion program only. Chaparral would be phased back to Fish Creek School as space becomes available.

  13. Scenario #5 – Effect on Fish Creek School and Sundance School • Assumptions/Notes: • Grades 5 & 6 students from Chaparral were designated to David Thompson Middle School not Maple Ridge. Chaparral students are in the process of phasing out of David Thompson Middle School. • David Thompson Middle school is full for the 2006 school year and cannot accommodate any additional students. • Maple Ridge school will change grade configurations for the 2006-2007 school year and will accommodate Kindergarten to Grade 4 students.

  14. Scenario #6 Add portables or relocatables to Sundance School and maintain the dual track English and French Immersion status.

Scenario #6 – Effect on Fish Creek School and Sundance School • Assumptions/Notes: • The CBE has received approval for 2 new portables for the entire system for the 2006-07 school year and has not received funding approval for any additional portable movements. • Under the status quo, enrolment at Sundance school will increase by approximately 60 students over the next 5 years.

  18. Scenario #8 Move Regular program students at Sundance School in Grade 1 in 2006 to Fish Creek School (allow siblings to move as well). In 2006 keep Kindergarten at Sundance School. In 2007, move Kindergarten –Grade 3 Regular program students from Sundance School to Fish Creek School.

  24. Scenario #11 Open Fred Seymour in 2007 as a French Immersion Middle School & Late Immersion. Sundance School would accommodate Kindergarten – Grade 6 Regular program and Kindergarten – Grade 4 French Immersion program.

  25. Scenario #11 – Effect on Fish Creek School and Sundance School • Assumptions/Notes: • Fred Seymour is an elementary school and does not have science labs and CTS spaces such as foods labs and shops. • Assumes that CBE would be willing to open Fred Seymour School.

  26. Scenario #12 Renovate Sundance School for the 2006/07 school year as follows: convert gym stage to a classroom, convert staff room to a classroom, and convert conference room to a staff room.

Scenario #12 – Effect on Fish Creek School and Sundance School • Assumptions/Notes: • Students would continue to be accommodated as per the status quo • A tour of Sundance School was completed and it was determined that the conference space and library alcove could be converted to a teaching space. The renovation will occur over the summer of 2006 and will add 1 teaching space.

  28. Scenario #13 Create more student spaces by considering a year-round program for Sundance schools (Sundance, Fish Creek & Mid-Sun) and Chaparral Elementary.

  29. Scenario #13 – Effect on Fish Creek School, Sundance School, and Mid-Sun Junior High Assumptions/Notes: * Implementation of a year-round calendar allows a school to accommodate 20% more students

  30. Scenario #14 Lobby the CBE Board of Trustees to make a commitment to operating schools at no more than 85% capacity.

  31. Scenario #14 – Effect on Fish Creek School and Sundance School 85% of the Functional capacity for the Sundance Community schools is as follows:

  32. Scenario #15 Allow French Immersion students who are currently at Sundance School to return to Kingsland and Sam Livingston without out-of-boundary fees and allow them to take siblings with them (assumes Regular program is no longer offered at Sam Livingston School).

Scenario #15 – Effect on Fish Creek School and Sundance School • Sam Livingston School will offer a Regular program Grades 3-6 for the 2006 school year • Sam Livingston does not have space to accommodate additional students for the 2006 school year • The CBE does not charge “out-of-boundary” fees

  34. Scenario #16 Accommodate more students at Fish Creek School by using some space at Mid-Sun School (eg. Some Grade 6 classes from Fish Creek School use Mid-Sun School for music or science).

  35. Scenario #16 – Effect on Fish Creek School and Sundance School • Fish Creek School can accommodate the students projected over the next 5 years. The use of space at Mid-Sun School would only become necessary in the case of a scenario where Fish Creek school was at, or over, capacity.

  36. Scenario #17 In 2006 – Move Grades 1 & 2 (but not Kindergarten) to Fish Creek School. Allow Regular program Kindergarten to remain at Sundance School until 2009 Phase the other Regular program Grades to Fish Creek School as follows: 2007 – Grade 3, 2008 – Grade 4, 2009 – Kindergarten and Grade 5&6.

  40. Scenario #19 Move Kindergarten to Grade 2 Regular program from Sundance School to Fish Creek School in 2006 and continue to phase-out. Move Grades 5&6 together.
