  2. CHAT+ • Success of CHAT lead to FE provision – Teenage Pregnancy Strategy • Started in January 2009 with FE consultation • Funded for 1 x Nurse and 1 x part time HCA • 5 colleges initially involved

CHAT+ provision • Weekly drop in service on site • Registration to the CDS • Opportunistic Chlamydia screening • Extended sexual health provision • Full range of contraception • Contraceptive pills and emergency contraception • Contraceptive Implant fitting and removal • Injectable contraception • Full STI screening for asymptomatic clients

  4. CHAT+ provision • Signposting to other services • FIS • Shropshire Substance Misuse Team • CBT • Referral to other agencies • Teenage Identified Midwives • CAMHS • Mental health support groups

  5. CHAT+ provision • Registration to SH service both for contraception and GUM • Reminders about general health access • GP/Practice Nurse • Walk in Centres • Out of Hours service

  6. Registration • Demographic details • Sexuality and Relationship details • Current contraception • Assess risks if any • Alcohol • Drugs • Lifestyle including accommodation • Support – leaving care etc

  7. Confidentiality • Same as for any health based service • No GP involvement unless absolutely necessary • Reassurance for client that they can talk freely and not be judged • Safeguarding of the client is paramount • Opportunity for client to register comments/compliments/complaints

  8. Health Promotion • Health events calendars • College events • Tutorials • New starters • End of term activities

  9. CHAT+ promotion • Moodle • Newsletters • CHAT development days • Housing Associations • County Training venues

  10. Data • January – December 2013 • 479 clients seen • 385 CDS registration, distribution and renewal • 110 Chlamydia screens • 28 hormonal contraception issues • 6 STI screens • >30 referrals to other agencies
