  1. Modern Wonders Of the World By: Ben Carstens Notice: You must research an ANCIENT WONDER OF THE WORLD…this is just an example. Since I chose a GRADIENT background for this slide, I may not use it again in the presentation. Also notice that I used custom WORD animation, as well as the default template for my slide.

  2. The Panama Canal /www.wonderclub.com Notice: Since I chose a TEXTURED background for this slide, I may not use it again within this presentation. Also notice that I credited the website from which I took the picture by including its name, ON THE PICTURE, in 8 pt. font. Also, notice the custom animation on the picture, and how the picture as well as the website test within both increase simultaneously. That was done by selecting the text and the picture simultaneously (by holding the ‘Ctrl’ key, and then choosing the custom animation effect.

  3. Location of The Panama Canal • The Panama Canal is located at the Isthmus of Panama, in the city of Panama City, Panama, • Panama is located within the latitude and longitude of 09° 00 N, 80° 00 W • The Panama Canal’s Location is a manmade structure, which divides the continents of North America and South America • The fact that the Isthmus of Panama is a narrow piece of land dividing those two major continents provided the incentive to build a canal there, as an efficient route for ships to pass through. • The location of the Panama Canal allows ships to forfeit nearly 8000 miles (and approximately 30 days) of traveling around Cape Horn, the southern tip of South America. Notice: I included the global address of the Panama Canal, a description of its location, and the reason that I believe the location is the factor for the Wonder’s construction. I also included, in 8 pt. font, the name of the website from which I found the picture I used as the background. Per the instructions, since I chose a washed out background, I must use a washed out OR a black and white background for slides 3,4,5 , and 6. www.knightsbridgeinvest.com

  4. Structure of the Panama Canal • The Panama Canal was constructed by excavating through 500 feet of seismically active mountain with a tropical terrain • When a ship arrives from the Pacific Ocean, two sets of locks raise the ship 85 feet above sea level, and across 9 miles of man made channel, carved in the continental divide • Before the ship is lowered into the Atlantic Ocean, it travels 23 miles across the second largest manmade lake on Earth • The Panama Canal runs North and South, with the Pacific Ocean bordering its Southern port, and the Atlantic Ocean bordering its Northern port, covering approximately 50 miles between www.knightsbridgeinvest.com

  5. Beauty of the Panama Canal The beauty of the Panama canal is illustrated by: The fact that it’s existence provides a pathway between that does not naturally exist The standard of engineering set by the United States as a result of the successful planning, engineering, excavation, and construction of the Canal www.celebritysentry.com

  6. Magnitude of the Panama Canal The Panama Canal is a manmade pathway between the worlds two largest oceans, connecting them by a 48 mile long canal of locks and artificial lakes. I believe that the “magnitude” of the Panama Canal is not necessarily illustrated by the size of the structure, but by the enormity that was the undertaking of its development US engineers were forced to defeat not only the seismically active land that existed at its location, but also the mosquitoes of the area that caused 22,000 French workers to die during a prior attempt to excavate the Panama Canal www.celebritysentry.com

  7. References www.google.com www.celebritysentry.com www.knightsbridgeinvest.com www.tarekalaaddin.com http://geography.about.com www.mapsofworld.com Notice how this slide has a PATTERN background, because all other options have been taken, and it is the last remaining chioce.
