  4. Home to approximately 740 students in grades K-5 • Located in Jasper, Georgia • Description of community • A 2009 Title 1 Distinguished School • Principal/Sherry Mullins, Asst. Principal Beth Simonds • Zoned to contain many different middle-class subdivisions and neighborhoods along with several low- income apartment complexes.

Thoughts and Feelings, Fears, Strengths and Weaknesses as you began Candidate Teaching -My collaborating teacher was having a tough year and I was afraid that I would be a burden rather than a help to her. -I felt very unsure about lesson planning and daily procedures. -I feared that behavior management would be my greatest weakness. -I knew going in that my strengths were relating well with others, both staff and students, and having a positive attitude about my candidate teaching experience.

  10. The Planning Process I was fortunate to have a wonderful collaborating teacher who was supportive of my ideas, activities, and plans for the classroom. Mrs. Brooks allowed me to create the weekly lesson plans on my own. Before writing the lesson plans, Mrs. Brooks and I would discuss an outline for the following week’s lessons and the goals that we wanted to achieve. The MAT program adequately prepared me to plan differentiated lessons that met the needs of all of the students in my classroom.
