  2. A note from me… Thank you so much for returning report card envelopes back today. We had a great return rate on our envelopes, as well as field trip papers (permission slips, contract points, $8.00, and chaperone requests) and AIMS papers (permission slip to chew gum during the test, contributing snacks). All of these forms, along with the $8.00 field trip charge are due by this Friday (4/4). A drawing will be held on Friday to select our chaperones, and parents will be notified by next Monday, April 7th. Our field trip point system began today, and your child has written their daily point total in their agendas. We will do this at the end of each day, and then total the points on Fridays. Students earn 5 points each day, but points are deducted for missing homework (-2pts.), unsigned agendas (-1pt.) and for ending the day clipped down (-1 or -2 pts). A minimum of 85% (77 pts.) out of the total 90 points are required to attend the field trip. If a student does not meet that minimum requirement, their field trip money will be refunded the day of the trip, and they will be sent to another classroom on campus for study hall. Mrs. Hayward and Mrs. Zelek recently wrote and submitted a grant for Falcon Hill to receive funding to build a school garden. This would be an excellent learning opportunity for our students to incorporate many skills throughout the year. We invite you to go to http://www.seedsofchangegrant.com/ and click on Gallery. Then find “Falcon Hill Farm” using our zip code (85207) or name. You can vote once each day for 21 days, and every single vote counts! Thank you for helping us get closer to this goal! We will be doing lots of practicing this week and next Monday to review the concepts and standards we have learned this year, in addition to practicing testing strategies in preparation for AIMS next week. AIMS testing will be next Tuesday-Thursday, with Friday reserved for make-ups. Your child’s attendance next week is critical. Please remember that the first bell rings at 7:40am, and the tardy bell at 7:45. Our testing will begin first thing in the morning following announcements, so students who arrive later will be required to remain in the office until we are finished. Falcon Hill Farm is the mystery word this week. These students will have to participate in the make up schedule on Friday. Try laying out clothes, backpacks, etc. the night before to help with the morning rush. Thanks for helping us be on time, especially during AIMS week! I hope you are taking advantage of the opportunity to watch your child practice some of their skills at home on the sample online AIMS tests. This is the one time when I request that you do sit with your child as they go through these practice activities……have them read the directions aloud to you, see how they solve the problems, reason, check and prove their work, etc. It can be a very educational experience for both of you! Once again, the link to AIMS practice tests are on the main page of our school website, http://www.mpsaz.org/falconhill From their you can click on the appropriate link for practice tests. Still have some questions or concerns about AIMS? Please go to our class website, and click on AIMS on the left-hand menu for specific test taking tips, suggestions, and strategies. Thank you for your willingness to provide snacks for the students to enjoy before and after each testing session next week. It helps to make our week a little more exciting and not quite so stressful. It looks like we have an overwhelming response to pretzels, so some of you may want to consider another option!  Those snack items can be sent in with your child next Monday morning, April 7th. “No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted.” ~~~Aesop . .
