  2. Knowing What The Bible Says About Money Is …… The means to great profit!

  3. The Bible Has Much To SayAbout Money • 16 of the 38 parables of Jesus are about money • Jesus says more about money than heaven or hell combined • One out of ten verses relate to money in the four gospels

  4. The Bible Has Much To SayAbout Money • The Bible offers 500 verses on faith • 500 verses on prayer • But 2000 verses on money and possessions

  5. But the Bible warns that money can not bring happiness or contentment!

  6. “For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it”(1 Tim. 6:7, NIV)

  7. 6 basic principles about life and money • Life on this earth has “no profit” “Naked a man comes from his mother's womb, and as he comes, so he departs. He takes nothing from his labor that he can carry in his hand. This too is a grievous evil: As a man comes, so he departs, and what does he gain, since he toils for the wind?”(Ecclesiastes 5:15-16, NIV)

  8. “What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matt. 16:26 NIV)

  9. Hello, I’m the devil. I want to buy your soul. How much will you sell it to me for? $1.00 100 pesos 1000 rubles 1,000,000 yuan 10 pounds

  10. 6 basic principles about life and money • Life on this earth has “no profit” • Don’t trust riches - they will fail “Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.” (Proverbs 23:5 NIV)

  11. "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthew 6:19-21 NIV)

  12. 6 basic principles about life and money • Life on this earth has “no profit” • Don’t trust riches - they will fail • You will never have enough money to make you happy

  13. “Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless.” (Ecclesiastes 5:10 NIV)

  14. 6 basic principles about life and money • Life on this earth has “no profit” • Don’t trust riches - they will fail • You will never have enough money to make you happy • The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil

  15. The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil “People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.”(1 Timothy 6:9-10 NIV) “want” means to be “consumed” with the desire for riches

  16. But many godly people are rich! • Abraham • Job • David • Solomon • Nicodemus • Barnabas • Philemon It is not wrong to have money. Nowhere in the Bible is money, per se, condemned.

  17. But we are warned about dangers that money can create for us!

  18. “Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.”(1 Timothy 6:17-19 NIV)

  19. God wants you to be a giver instead of a taker “He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need.” (Ephesians 4:28 NIV)

  20. Money will buy ...... • A bed, but not sleep • Books, but not wisdom • A house, but not a home • Medicine, but not health • Amusement, but not happiness • Companionship, but not friends • A Gold Cross around the neck, but not a Savior

  21. 6 basic principles about life and money • Life on this earth has “no profit” • Don’t trust riches - they will fail • You will never have enough money to make you happy • The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil • There will be sorrow in the getting of riches

  22. Sorrow in the getting of riches “What does a man get for all the toil and anxious striving with which he labors under the sun? All his days his work is pain and grief; even at night his mind does not rest. This too is meaningless.” (Ecclesiastes 2:22-23 NIV)

  23. How are fortunes built? Rising early and lying down late Scheming and contriving Laboring and striving By toiling and working Hurrying and worrying Drudging and slaving Planning and plotting

  24. 6 basic principles about life and money • Life on this earth has “no profit” • Don’t trust riches - they will fail • You will never have enough money to make you happy • The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil • There will be sorrow in the getting of riches • We really don’t own anything

  25. God owns it all He just loans it to us for a few years!

  26. Our relationship to God is like Joseph’s relationship to his Master “Now Joseph had been taken down to Egypt. Potiphar,…who was one of Pharaoh's officials, …bought him from the Ishmaelites… The LORD was with Joseph and he prospered… When his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD gave him success in everything he did, Joseph found favor in his eyes… Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned.”(Genesis 39:1-4)

  27. Money, a most common temporary thing, involves uncommon and eternal consequences. Even though it is not always evident – money molds men. The process of getting it, saving it, spending it, and giving it, proves to be a blessing or a curse. Either the man becomes master of his money or money becomes the master of the man.

  28. Men make counterfeit money, Money makes counterfeit men

  29. God Takes Money: Dirty, everyday, necessary money and uses it as a test for our lives Our money management is an accurate index of our true nature Our money management shows whether we are a friend of God or a friend of the world!

  30. Our Choices: Either we control our money or our money controls us! Either we use our money for the glory of God or we use it for our own pleasures! Either we use our money to help us get to heaven or it will be the cause of us going to hell!
