  9. Disinfectants • Any product that claims to “KILL” anything needs to be registered with the EPA • If there is no registration there is no “kill claim” • If there is no kill claim you can not legally say your product eliminates the organism

  10. Disinfectants • All registered products must be used EXACTLY as the labels state they are to be used to validate the kill claim • Because these products “KILL”, every label states they must be used in accordance with label directions under penalty of law

The primary difference between the two is the contact time required to kill • Disinfectants • Primary label directions usually call for 1 to 10 minutes wet contact time • Sanitizers • Primary label directions usually call for 30 seconds to 1 minute contact time
