  3. Education • Went to school from 1774-1839 in Shrewsbury • Tried to go to medical school but quit soon after • Same happened with trying to be a priest • Started to keep specimens to study

  4. Accomplishments • Traveled around world • Collected species by the hundred • Invented the theory of evolution • Became a member of royal society

  5. Later Life • Studied coral reefs • Published another book • Married cousin Emma • Lived in Down House for rest of life • Died April 1882

  6. Cool Facts • Born the day before Abe Lincoln • Buried near the grave of Isaac Newton • Brothers and sisters ho outlived him Later became important to science
