  4. THE FOUR ELEMENTS OF SOCCER These are the building blocks of our program: 1. Fitness: strength, speed, endurance, and agility (core of S.A.Q.) 2. Technique: ball control, types of passes, shooting, receiving, dribbling, fainting, throw-in, heading, etc. 3. Tactics: individual and group- offense/defense, team-organization, set plays, offensive/defense strategies and decision making 4. Psychology: development to overcome and control stressful situations, mental toughness, conduct, build self-confidence, being unaffected by “mind games”, learning to focus, positive attitude of team first and doing everything possible to not let the team down including staying grade eligible and supporting players on the field

  5. THE STUDENT ATHLETE Grades are of great concern to the coaching staff. We must always remember that we are dealing with students and that their progress is paramount to anything extracurricular. Soccer will demand a great amount of time. It is therefore important that parents and coaches communicate openly about any concerns affecting academics / grades. Let’s always work together toward the academic progress of each athlete. Soccer can be a motivating factor to improve grades. It requires maintaining of a minimum G.P.A. and good organization of one’s time. Any student staying at school before training/game should be studying and doing homework in the field house, or they should be with a teacher for tutoring

  6. TEAM GOALS-VARSITY -Win one game at a time -Shut out the opponent -Win the Region -Obtain home field advantage in the playoffs -AAAAAA State Champions TEAM GOALS-JUNIOR VARSITY Goals will be outlined by the JV Head Coach prior to season.

Player Package- This year each player will purchase their player package- 150.00 Which includes your entire warm-up (pants will be ¾ black), program tie(dark green), Nike game socks,3 practice t-shirts and 2 drifit game day shirts. Booster Club Dues- Each player is responsible for meeting the financial obligations to the booster club by selling program ads, fundraisers and sponsorships

  9. Preseason Training Camp All players interested in trying out that are academically eligible and have a physical on file are eligible for camp. Dates: Week 1- Jan. 7,8,9,10 Week 2- Jan. 14, 15 Cost is 15.00 and can be paid to either coach or the community school (make checks to CHHS community school.

  10. IMPORTANT DATES- BOYS SOCCER Jan.3- All boys conditioning (Very important) Preseason Training Program- Please see the previous slide…You must have a physical and academically eligible.. This will take place of any conditioning. You really need to sign up. Jan. 21- Fitness Test (Tryouts) 9th grade- 2:30-3:00 10th grade- 3:00-3:30 11th-12th grade- 3:30-4:00 Fitness Test- Eight Stages on the Track (See handout) Jan. 22-24- Tryouts 2:30-4:30 Jan. 24- Team Selection (will be posted on the website) and outside my classroom Friday (25th )morning Jan. 26- Kickoff Meeting 2:00 p.m. for all players and parent
