What do you know? • Take a look at the handout of the skeleton without labels (put your name on the top). • Label as many bones as you currently know. • *This will not be graded for accuracy, but fill in as many as you can, turn it in to the front tray, and this will give Ms. Graf and you an idea of what you know right now before we study the skeletal system.

  3. The Skeletal System: Structures • Key Structures: • 1. Bones – hard connective tissue that supports the body • 2. Cartilage – connective tissue that supports the body, softer and more flexible than bone. • 3. Ligaments – strip of tough connective tissue in a joint that holds bones together • 4. Tendons – tough connective tissue that joins muscle to bone
