  9. Volunteer with Girls United Are you a junior or senior girl interested in mentoring middle-school aged girls on topics like healthy body image, relationships and self-confidence?   10. Organization for World Travelers Club for Middle through High School to provide students a fun and interesting way to learn and share about travels.  We will host celebrations and cultural events. Meets Mondays during lunch in Mrs. Sloan’s room- 18NW 13

  11. Mini-Comic Club • Meets every Wednesday and every other Friday in 18NW during lunch! • This club is for artists who want to sharpen their drawing skills and create comics!! Students of all grades are welcome! 13

  12. National French Week Tuesday 8th: "La Cuisine." (1) French Breakfast for Administration; (2) Lunch featuring regional French cuisine. Weds 9th: Science, Technology and Careers. Trivia contest during lunch. Watch for posters of famous French scientists displayed in and around your teachers' rooms. All questions will be taken from these posters. Note: no computers or reference tools of ANY kind will be allowed during the contest. 13

  13. National French Week Thurs 10th: Arts and Crafts. (1) Mime show in the lobby during lunch! (2) Bake Sale after school in lobby: please support FHS students in their fundraising for Doctors without Borders (crisis in Somalia). Coins will be collected for "Change for a change." Please contribute. Fri 11th: Sports, games and traditions. Guest speaker, a former MLK student, will present her studies in Strasbourg - during lunch. Anyone may attend. 13

  14. National French Week Mon 14th: Music and dance. MLK student will teach us a traditional French dance during lunch. Anyone may attend. Open to all MLK students: Watch the announcements each day for a "question du jour."  Write your answer to each question and give all five answers to Mme Weaver by on Monday Nov 14th. Winner will be drawn from those with five correct answers. No group entries allowed. 13

  15. Literary Magazine Are you a student in grades 7-12 who loves to write poetry, short stories, creative nonfiction or take photographs? Submit your work to the MLK Literary Magazine in one of the colorful boxes in your English classroom! The theme is 'Transformation.' 13
