  8. …to action!

  9. What have we offered? ‘Basic’ finance training – mandatory for budget holders and authorised signatories over a three year period but also open to the wider organisation for those who wish to develop their finance knowledge and skills. ‘Advanced’ finance training day for those with a managerial responsibility and again open to the wider organisation for those who wish to develop their knowledge and skills. HFMA e-learning modules for finance staff and the wider organisation. Knowledge awareness sessions to develop a wider understanding of our finance function, changes on the UHCW and NHS horizon, and sharing best practice. Primarily aimed at finance staff.

  10. STAFF FEEDBACK

  11. Feedback from survey

  12. Feedback on training We have held 9 successful training workshops with 150 attendances from a variety of staff groups across the Trust. Training was advertised in UHCW newsletter ‘INTOUCH’ and through various Trust communications and forums. What does the feedback tell us? The feedback on training has been verypositive so far with more than half of delegates rating the training overall as ‘good’. Stakeholder feedback so far has shown a growing interest for more in depth finance training and results are outlined on the following charts by staff group.

  14. Next steps for us A reminder of thebenefits of embedding financial awareness are:- • Improving stakeholders’ engagement in and understanding of finance • Raising the profile and visibilityof finance • Developing a sustainable finance training and development plan • Help us and our stakeholders focus on value not just cost • Understand the impact of our decisions on clinical care • Provide support for staff Basic budget holder training has been established with the next stage to develop advanced modules and incorporate these as ‘masterclasses’ within UHCW Leadership Programme. Our top 100 leaders will be the first to access this. The aim is to extend coverage across the nursing and medical workforce, particularly aspiring consultants and clinical leads. A session with training doctors is planned in March 2015.

  15. Thank you… “A big 'thank you' right back at you too; it was a refreshing way of presenting what in essence is a very dry topic, and your enthusiasm as well as the other speakers made it very worth while and educational. It's the first time I have heard 'accountants' (no offence!) actually empathise with operational management and clinicians in terms of what we all face.  It is this collaborative approach that will result in a win-win situation as we can move forward as a team, however hard it all is.”

  16. A thought for you…
