  1. History of Engineering Activity Each of you will research one area of engineering history and present that to the class in a 5 minute presentation Products of your work: PowerPoint (or Prezi) document Presentation in class A model, drawing, or creative exposition of the invention

Underlying principles • This is an individual activity • You will do real research on your topic • At least four different references cited • Use MLA format for citations • You will provide a presentation to class in a PowerPoint format based on a template I will produce and have on my Web site • You will be tested on what your peers present to you – this will be a big part of the next exam • I expect all research and preparation of presentation to be done during class time

Rubric For Activity • Research/Content (major) • Follow template totally – address all questions, follow all directions, and have at least three resources • Presentation (part of above major) • presentation organized, easy to follow, and covers major historical points • presenter prepared, not just reading off the charts, making eye contact with audience • asks for questions at end and can answer questions within scope of research • provide teacher with soft copy of presentation at or before time of presentation • Prototype or drawing ( part of above major) • Demonstrates the nature of the invention and how it works • Working model or detailed drawing • Notebook (daily 1) • For each presentation: • Name of presenter • Topic • 5 or more important facts from the presentation • Ethical Listening (daily 2) • Lose 100 points after 5th speaker interruption Scope of Time – Three Class Days (4.5 Hours)
