  2. Parts of the Responses • State the Standard • Copy from “Guide to Evaluating Institutions” • E.G. Standard I: Institutional Mission and Effectiveness • “The institution demonstrates strong commitment to a mission that emphasizes achievement of student learning and to communicating the mission internally and externally……..” • Copy sub-standard from “Guide to Evaluating Institutions” • E.G. Standard I-A. Mission • “The institution has a statement of mission that defines the institution’s broad educational purposes……..”

  3. Parts of the Responses • Descriptive Summary • (Here, we attempt to demonstrate that the institution meets the description of this standard. We must also attempt to answer the questions in the “Guide” relative to what is occurring at our college. • We must provide evidence for our statements in this narrative. • We must always attempt to weave in the themes.

  4. Parts of the Responses • Self-Evaluation • (Here, we either meet or partially meet the standard. If we do, we attempt to justify how we meet this standard. If we don’t completely meet the description, we must formulate a planning agenda that describes how we will meet them by the mid-term review or the next accreditation cycle). • Planning Agenda • (Here, we discuss or describe plans to accomplish any gaps towards fully meeting the standard.)

  5. Examples from Other Colleges • Golden West – Standard III-A • Butte – Standard I-A • College of the Canyons – Standard II-A • Santa Rosa Junior College –Standard II-B • Berkeley City College – Standard IV - A
