Linkage Projects • Objective • Encourage and extend cooperative approaches to research by strengthening links within Australia’s innovation system and within innovation systems internationally • Participant roles • CI, PI • Industry organisation • Funding • Normally $20,000 to $500,000 p.a. for 1 to 5 years • From LP06, can apply for higher amounts (with increased cash contribution requirements)

Federation Fellowships • Objectives • attract and retain outstanding researchers of international renown • build and strengthen world-class research capability in Australia • expand Australia’s knowledge base by supporting ground-breaking, internationally competitive research • forge strong links among researchers, industry and the international research community • support research that will result in economic, environmental, social and cultural benefits for Australia

LinkageInternational Objectives • build strong ongoing collaborations among researchers, research teams or COE in Australia and overseas • strengthen international research experience for ECRs and generate opportunities for postgrad and postdoc researchers to link into leading edge international research networks • build Australian research capability by enhancing existing, and developing new collaborations among experienced researchers • develop innovative modes of international collaboration and links into global innovation networks • encourage expatriate Australian researchers to maintain ties with Australian research

  12. LinkageInternational • Fellowships • annual cycle • reciprocal exchangeunder international agreements - Germany, France, South Korea • Australia-Israel Fellowship, co-funded with the Australia-Israel Scientific Exchange Foundation • other countries open, including Taiwan

  13. LinkageInternational • Awards • continuous assessment: no submission date, next batched 15 July and 14 October 2005 • at the time of application, the first named Chief Investigator must be a Chief Investigator on at least one current ARC grant
