  2. If you wish to join the RCMP, you will need to check first the qualifications and requirements that you need to meet before you can proceed to the application process. The application process including the Cadet Training Program can last for 12 to 18 months. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police or RCMP, also known as the Mounties, is the Canadian national and federal police force that is responsible for preventing crimes, enforcing the federal laws, and maintaining public security, peace and order not only in different international airports, provinces, aboriginal communities, and municipalities in Canada (except in Quebec and Ontario) but also in three other Canadian territories. The police force is currently looking for highly motivated individuals who can be a great addition to their team of players with strong leadership abilities. 2

  3. Applying for a position in RCMP can be hard considering the requirements and qualifications that you need to meet as well as the process that you need to follow. Most often, the entire application process including the training will take as much as 12 to 18 months. Here is some important information that you have to check first before you join the RCMP. 3

Qualifications and Requirements •Permanent Canadian resident or citizen. •At least 19 years old. •Proficient in French and/or English. •Has a valid, unrestricted driver's license. •A graduate of at least Canadian secondary school or equivalent. •Meet the standards for psychological and health. •Meet the standards for vision and hearing. •Meet the required physical abilities level. 4

The applicant should also be willing to be relocated either within Canada or in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba, to stay and to undergo trainings at the RCMP Academy (Depot) in Regina, Saskatchewan for 26 weeks, to carry and use a firearm, and to work on shifting schedules including holidays and weekends. If you meet the above-mentioned qualifications and requirements, you can then proceed to the application process.

  6. Prior to starting the application process, you need to first undergo and pass the vision and hearing medical assessments. Once those are done, you can then proceed to the submission of your application, which can only be done online. If you successfully passed the online application, the recruiting staff of the RCMP will contact you and ask you to register for the Entrance Exam. However, if you are a graduate of at least two-year diploma course or you are a Bachelor's degree recipient, you will no longer have to take the exam. You will only be asked to provide your college or university transcript records and then you can proceed to the next step which is the completion of forms. The Application Process

  7. You will have to download the forms, complete them, and submit them on or before the specified date. You will likewise need to complete some personal documents like your fingerprints, high school transcript record, and statement of driving record. Your application document including your entrance exam results will then be verified for integrity and honesty. Once you pass this level, you will be asked to undergo and pass the full health assessment, which will be conducted by the physicians designated by RCMP. After which, you will be placed under thorough background checks and investigation. If you pass, you will be issued with a security clearance. Once cleared, you can then finally register for the Cadet Training Program of the RCMP.
