What is RCEMT? • A collaboration between Region 16 ESC, WTAMU, Amarillo College, and Region 16 school districts • $140,000 grant rewarded by the Math and Science Partnership through the Texas Education Agency
What is RCEMT? • High quality, sustained, and high intensity professional development for K-12 Mathematics teachers
Why? • To improve the academic achievement of Region 16 students in mathematics • To improve the content knowledge & instructional skills of mathematics teachers
How? • Provide 40 Mathematics Teacher Mentors (MTMs) with an average of 75 contact hours of professional development and mentoring
How? • Provide 400 Mathematics Cadre Members (MCMs) with 12 contact hours of professional development
MTMs • Must receive an average of 75 contact hours • 12 of these 75 hours must be in mentoring others • Application required • Graduate credit offered • Substitute reimbursement • $175 stipend
MCMs • Anyone who is not an MTM but attends 12 hours of professional development offered through RCEMT • Application not required • Graduate credit, substitute reimbursement, & stipends are not offered
