Welcome to Counseling Class! Mrs. Blake 4th & 5th grade counselor
What does a School Counselor Do? Let’s read a story to find out!
To Recap, Here’s What I Do… I teach large group guidance lessons once a month to address topics such as bullying, careers, and diversity, just to name a few! I lead small groups to help kids with things they need to work on or to help kids through difficult situations. I meet with kids one-on-one to talk about things going on in their lives and to help them figure out how to solve their problems.
Some Other Things I Do • Organize Club Day • Lead the Husky Helper Club • Recognize Students of the Month • Award monthly Leadership Awards • Sponsor Safety Patrol along with Mrs. Lincoln • Meet with parents • Help out in classrooms when needed I do lots of other things, too, but I figured you’d be the most interested in the ones above!
When might you want to come talk to the school counselor? • If you feel worried, sad, scared, angry, or lonely, and you want someone to talk to • If you need ideas to help solve problems at school or at home • If you need to report an issue with a bully • If you need help dealing with changes in your family. My Office!
How can I make an appointment with Mrs. Blake? • Go to my website and fill out the appointment request form • You can fill it out in your classroom, in the counseling suite, in the computer lab, or at home. • Make sure you hit “Submit” so it will be e-mailed to me!
When do I know it is my turn to meet with Mrs. Blake? • I will put a yellow appointment card in your teacher’s box for you. • Just come to my office at your scheduled time. • If you forget, let me know and we will reschedule your appointment. • It is your job to remember your appointment, not your teacher’s job.
How do I report a bully? Click on the “No Bullying Zone” sign and fill out the form. Make sure you hit “Submit” after you complete the form so the report is e-mailed to me.
Take a piece of paper and pass it down. Try your best not to wrinkle it or make any marks on it.
