  1. NOAA IJPS Equipment RefreshIntegration and Testing Kirk Liang POES Ground System Project Manager May 31, 2013

  2. IJPS Technology Refresh • Existing IJPS Ground System Equipment • No changes to existing requirements and no impact to current operations • IJPS Technology refresh include: • Replace POES Data Server (PDS) at NSOF and Wallops CDA. • Supports Transatlantic GAC, STIP, SAIP • Supports TM, TC, HRPT, Blind GAC from Svalbard • Replace PTP’s at Wallops and Fairbanks CDA. • Supports Metop HRPT • Low Rate CCSDS Data Processors • Replace X-Band Down-Converters/X-Band Data Server • Fairbanks Only • Metop High Rate CCSDS data processors output (GDS data) • Upgrade S-Band Modems • Telemetry and Tele-Commanding Modems • S-Band Metop HK Telemetry and Tele-commanding.

  3. IJPS Ground System Overview

  4. IJPS Refresh Regression Tests • POES Data Servers (PDS) at NSOF and Wallops • The following tests were successfully completed using data from NOAA 18 and 19 with coordination between EUMETSAT, WCDAS & NSOF • TM/TC/GAC/HRPT • Link verification • Validated commanding, telemetry, receipt of HRPT, and Blind GAC • EUMETSAT verified equipment set up • ESPC validated GAC data, NSOF verify TM and HRPT • NSOF and Wallops validated data • Tested flowing simultaneous data streams • Tested interruption of data

  5. IJPS Refresh Regression Tests (cont) • PTP at Wallops • The following test was successfully completed • Metop 2 was used to retrieve MHRPT data • NSOF verified reception and validated the data • PTP and TM/TC at Fairbanks • The following tests need to be accomplished with coordination between EUMETSAT, FCDAS & NSOF • Receive and validate TM data (EUMETSAT) • Validate carrier lock, AGC level, and verify command coordination

  6. IJPS Refresh Regression Tests (cont) • GDS at Fairbanks • The following tests are to be accomplished initially with co-visibilitypasses and eventually with a full GDS Dump • Verify and validate streaming data from Fairbanks, NSOF, and EUMETSAT • On a mutually agreed date using a predetermined pass validate the data recorded on DVD and sent to EUMETSAT

  7. IJPS Refresh Testing Schedule • Existing functionality Tests • Factory Testing • NSOF PDS Server Testing 1/16/12 – 03/28/2013 (Completed) • Wallops PDS Server Testing 3/1/2013 – 04/30/13 (Completed) • NSOF GDS Server Testing 4/1/2013 – 6/30/2013 (On-going) • Fairbanks GDS Server Testing 7/01/2013 -8/30/2013 (On-going) • Site Testing • Initial Wallops System Test – 6/2013 • Initial Fairbanks System Test – 8/2013 • CDAS and NSOF final System Test - 9/2013
