  2. Since 1981, Morocco has seen a new administrative division, due to the expansion of bigurbanspaces (Casablanca, Rabat-Salé, Fès, etc.). The legislatordeemednecessary to split up theseregions in order to control theirdevelopmentadequately, withoutaffectingtheirharmony, or theiroveralldevelopment: "the Wilaya". This new supra-prefectoral structure wascreated to play a coordination role.   4. Tanger-Tetouan Situated in north-western Morocco, the region of Tangier-Tétouan has the Atlantic Ocean as its western border, with the MediterraneanSea and Spain to itsnorth. The population of the regionis close to 2.5 million and has Tangier as its capital city. The region of Tangier-Tetouancovers 11,570 square kilometers of land. It encompasses the provinces of Larache and Chefchaouen, and the prefectures of FahsAnjra, Tangier-Assilah and Tetouan.   6. Taza –Hoceima-Taounate Taza-Al Hoceima-Taounateis one of the sixteenregions of Morocco. It islocated in northernMorocco in the Rif Occidental, along the Mediterraneancoast. Its area is 24,155 km ² with a population of 1,807,113 inhabitants.

  7. Mont-Rif –Tazghine The Rif regiontakesitsnamefrom the mountain range that crosses it. Morocco's second string after the imposing Atlas, the latter, with a length of 260Km isarranged in an arc along the Mediterranean, on the northcoast of Morocco. Casablanca hosts headquarters and main industrialfacilities for the leadingMoroccan and international companiesbased in Morocco. Industrialstatistics show Casablanca retainsitshistorical position as the main industrial zone of the country. The Port of Casablanca is one of the largestartificial ports in the world,[1] and the largest port of NorthAfrica.[2] It isalso the primary naval base for the Royal MoroccanNavy.

  13. Chaouia-Ourdigha Is one of the sixteenregions of Morocco. It islocated on the Atlantic plain, between the city of Casablanca, Wadi Oum er-Rebia plateau and Phosphates. Its area is 16,760 km ² with a population of 1,744,738 inhabitants3. Its capital is Settat. Ouardighaincludescities and villages known for theirwealth as Khouribga for phosphates, Oued-Zem for History (20 August 1955) and Ait Ammar

Its capital is the city of Safi. The regionconsists of the provinces of El Jadida, Sidi Bennour, Safi and Youssoufia, the first two provinces correspond to the historicregion of Doukkala and the last two, approximatelythat of Abda.

  18. Guelmim-Es-Semara Is one of the sixteenregions of Morocco. It islocated in the south of the country. Its area is 133,730 KM22, 18.8% of the Moroccanterritory, with a population of 3 462 410 inhabitants. Its leader is the city of Guelmim.

  19. Laayoune –Boujdour –Sakia-Hamra Is a region of southernMorocco. Its capital city isLaayoune.

  20. Oued Eddahab-Lgouira Is one of the 16 areas administered by Morocco. Its capital is Dakhla.
