Entrepreneurial Project Embedding Entrepreneurial programming throughout EST Mechatronics lab & programming Creation of ‘Biz Squad’ unit for EST & local businesses Building Institutional & Human Capacity at Home & Abroad Automotive Diagnostics First-ever automotive diagnostics programming in the Middle East Regional “Center of Excellence” Connectivity with global & local industry partnership for EST Workforce development through regional outreach Jordan, Sudan & Egypt The projects focus on educational and workforce development along with entrepreneurial capacity building in the Broader Middle East & North Africa region (BMENA).

Industry partners & organizational support: Snap-on Corporation National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3) Gateway Technical College partnered with Ecole Superieure de Technologie, Oujda, Morocco and partners in education, industry and advocacy associations.

Lessons Learned • Understanding & developing cultural competency is key • Passion for project objectives must be shared by all partners named in the agreement to ensure success • Our colleges and students are more similar than different • Paradigms can be shifted incrementally • Opportunities to grow our schools and the local, national & global economies exist through collaboration abroad

Entrepreneurial Project The Mechatronics department will partner will industries to provide advanced technology support to the community Entrepreneurial efforts will be inclusive of the business community to include an advisory committee The ‘Biz Squad’ will model after Gateway’s ‘Biz Squad’ serving as a resource to the community Sustainability Auto Project Scale-up efforts to include an energy component, additional industry certifications, & Information systems Targeted outreach to local and regional education & industry partners Sustainability is intended through the development of human & institutional capacity, support systems for the continual development of self-sufficient programming. While separate projects, each will intersect to bridge entrepreneurialism in the auto project through either mechatronics or the ‘Biz Squad’ services.
