Enhancing Social Work Education: Geriatrics Concentration in Alzheimer’s Disease

This proposal aims to introduce a concentration in Alzheimer’s disease within the Masters in Social Work program to address the increasing challenges faced by elders. The lack of geriatric knowledge among social workers and rising cases of Alzheimer’s in the U.S. underscore the need for curriculum adjustments and enhanced support. The shortage of adequately trained social workers can lead to inadequate service provision and potential neglect of elders. By integrating geriatrics education and raising awareness, we can better equip future social workers with the necessary skills to support the aging population effectively.
