This paper presents innovative approaches to volunteer computing, focusing on the integration of desktop grid systems with virtual machines and legacy applications. By leveraging technologies such as XtremWeb-HEP and GBAC, we enable users to seamlessly submit their applications and workloads to distributed computing environments. We explore user cases involving Remote Execution and application submission processes for citizen scientists and researchers. Through this work, we aim to enhance the accessibility and efficiency of volunteer computing resources, empowering a wider community of users.
