Large Mammals: Black Buck Name: Blackbuck Range: Pakistan, India, Nepal Habitat: Grassy plains to dry woodlands Diets: Short grasses and cultivated cereals Head and Body Length: 3 to 5 feetTail Length: 4 to 7 inches Shoulder Height: 24 to 33 inches Weight: 55 to 88 poundsLife Cycle: Mating February to March; gestation 160 to 180 days, one or two young born Description: Fawn or yellow (females), brown (males), or black (dominant males); white underside, rump, muzzle and eye-ring; long, spiraling horns (males) Conservation Status: Vulnerable

  3. Small Mammals: Nine-Banded Armadillo Description. About the size of a terrier dog, upperparts encased in a bony carapace with large shields on shoulders and rump and nine bands in between; front feet with four toes, middle two longest; hind foot five-toed, the middle three longest, all provided with large, strong claws; tail long, tapering and completely covered by bony rings; color brownish, the scattered hairs yellowish white. There are 30 or 32 peg like teeth. External measurements average: total length, 760 mm; tail, 345 mm; hind foot, 85 mm. Weight of adult males, 5-8 kg; females, 4-6 kg.   4. Upland Birds: Northern Bobwhite Adult Description Medium-sized quail. Runs on ground. Small round head with slight crest. Round body with very short tail. Colored reddish and brown. Pale throat and eye stripe white in male, buff in female. Immature Description Juvenile similar to female, but duller. A small chicken like bird of eastern United States and Mexico, the northern bobwhite is an important game bird.

Waterfowl: American Wigeon A common and increasingly abundant duck, the American Wigeon breeds in northwestern North America and is found throughout the rest of the continent in migration and in winter. Its small bill and the male's white forehead, as well as certain aspects of nesting and feeding behavior, distinguish this species from other dabbling ducks.   6. Wetland birds: Sand hill Crane Adult Description Very large bird. Long neck. Long Legs. Gray body, may be stained reddish. Red forehead. White cheek. Tufted feathers over rump. Immature Description Similar to adult, but mottled gray and brown, and without facial markings or bald forehead. The sand hill crane is a tall gray bird of open grasslands, meadows, and wetlands. Congregates in huge number of migration.

  7. Birds of prey: Peregrine Falcon Powerful and fast-flying, the Peregrine Falcon hunts medium-sized birds, dropping down on them from high above in a spectacular stoop. Virtually exterminated from eastern North America by pesticide poisoning in the middle 20th century, restoration efforts have made it a regular, if still uncommon sight in many large cities. Adult Description Large falcon, medium-sized hawk. Black mustache mark on face. Long pointed wings. Immature Description Juvenile similar to adult but back brownish and under parts streaked, not barred.
