Father & MrsKhokhlokova. Negative spiritualism: the infinite/spiritual part is aiming to purify itself by controlling or cutting off the finite/sensual part. Ivan & Katerina. Positive spiritualism: the infinite/spiritual part tries to purify the finite/sensual through transformation (St. Paul); light entering into darkness and light (St John). Alyosha & Liza. Fusion/Union: an unstable attempt to keep both parts of the self as they are. Dimitry & Groushenka.
