  1. All you need to know about Nitrogen Generator Membrane System People often wonder about how nitrogen generator membrane system works. In this post, we will share all the necessary information related to how it works, how you should use it and how to choose a membrane type nitrogen generation system. 1.Membrane’s Working Principle Gas separation membranes function on the principle of selective permeation. The selective permeation takes place through a membrane surface. The permeation rate of every gas is dependent on its rate of diffusion in the membrane. You must know that the gases that tend to have a higher diffusion rate but a lower molecular size are able to penetrate the membrane quicker than gases with lesser diffusion rate and large molecular size. You must know that every membrane module consists of countless hollow fibers. Nitrogen tends to have a lower permeation velocity as compared to oxygen, water vapor and CO2. And therefore these gases easily pass through the membrane and vented to the atmosphere. One should bear in mind that the vented gas must be rich in oxygen. Only nitrogen comes out of the membrane and it is stored in a vessel meant for storing nitrogen. Later the nitrogen is sent to the compressors, tanks and pumps via nitrogen distribution networks. https://ogsi.ae/ Page 1

  2. 2.Major Components of a Nitrogen Generator Membrane System The main components of a nitrogen generator membrane system are as under- •Air compressor •Inlet filters •Air heater (Not mandatory) •Membrane •Nitrogen storage vessel 3.Selecting Membrane Type Nitrogen Generation System There are certain points one must keep in mind while choosing a nitrogen generator membrane system. You must know that membranes tend to work better at a constant temperature. In-fact the efficiency increases at high temperatures. Nitrogen system is therefore sometimes equipped with an electrical heater that serves the purpose of increasing the temperature of about 50 to 60 degree Celsius. You must bear in mind that the maximum operating temperature of the system is 65 to 75 degree Celsius. The nitrogen generation unit trips when the temperature reaches 65 degree Celsius. An inlet filter is also provided in the nitrogen generator membrane system to decrease the membrane plugging frequency. Also, in order to make keep an eye on the purity level of nitrogen and system’s performance oxygen analyzer is installed at the outlet of the system. In a nutshell, a nitrogen generator membrane system is quite easy to use. Besides, it is a reliable system which is less in weight and easy to maintain. It is less noisy as compared to its counterparts which are why it is highly preferred.
