Enhancing Telecommunications Infrastructure and Services in Educational Institutions

This project focuses on recent advancements in telecommunications infrastructure, including the enhancement of telephone networks for educational institutions, installation of PABX systems, and linking community colleges to larger networks via wireless technology. Significant upgrades to fire protection systems and smart card access for classrooms are also highlighted. Future initiatives aim to implement advanced IP-based PBX systems and smart tagging for asset management, enhancing internal processes and services across various departments.

  2. Recently Completed Projects • Enhancement of Telephone Network Infrastructure. (Farooq, Doha, Ferdows and KFUPM Schools) • Installing PABX for HFCC and DCC (Community Colleges). • Linking DCC to KFUPM by a Wireless Link (Wi-Max, 4 Mbps). • Major Installations/Renovations of Fire Protection Systems. • Pilot Project for Providing Smart Card Access Control to Smart Classrooms. • Migrating ADSL Service to a Separate External Link with Enhanced Features (in cooperation with ITC). • Developing IVR System for Housing and Office Services. • Developing IVR system for Ministry of Islamic Affairs. • Launching Telecommunications Department Website.

On-Going Projects • Finalizing Infrastructure and Equipment Installations For Voice Services at the Newly Constructed Buildings (58 And 59). • Protecting Smart Classrooms in Existing Buildings and the Two Newly Constructed Buildings by Smart Card Access Control. • Upgrading Smart Card Management Software To a Web-based System. • Developing IVR System For ITC Services. • Automating All Internal Processes of Telecom Department.

Future Projects • Upgrading KFUPM PBX System to a State-of-the-Art IP-based System Supporting IP Telephony, Mobile Telephony and Unified Messaging. • Introducing a Smart Tag RFID System (e-labeling) for Asset Management and Library System. • Creating Further Applications of Smart Card: Access to Library System, Access to Medical Center Filing System, Security Access to Public Computers.
