Exploring Geologic Features and Events in Armenia, Iran, Iraq, and Mexico

This presentation delves into significant geologic features and catastrophic events across Armenia, Iran, Iraq, and Mexico. Key highlights include Mount Ararat in Armenia, the Damavand volcano in Iran, and the salt sea in Iraq. We discuss the devastating 1988 Spitak earthquake in Armenia and the 1990 Manjil-Rudbar earthquake in Iran, both of which caused immense destruction and loss of life. Additionally, we touch on Mexico's Pico de Orizaba and the 1985 Mexico City earthquake that left a lasting impact. Join us in understanding these geologic marvels and their human effects.

  2. Armenia

  3. Geologic Feature • Mount Ararat is a mountain in Ancient Armenia that is 11,847 ft tall • It has a smaller peak called Mases • It has no volcanic center

  4. Geologic EventThe 1988 Spitak Earthquake • Had a magnitude of 6.9 • Took 25,000 lives • Cost 3 billion to repair • It also hit other parts of Armenia like Gyumri and Vanadzor

  5. Effects on the People • It hit these people tremendously because it showed how powerful the earth could be and in a second everything could change

  6. Iran

  7. Geologic Feature • This is the Damavand volcano in Iran. • It is a potentially active volcano and is the highest peak in Iran. • It is located in the middle of the Alborz Range.

  8. Geologic Event: Manjil-Rudbar earthquake • Left 500000 people homeless. • It was a 6.6 on the rictor scale. • It destroyed 700 villages. • It occurred near the capital, Theran.

  9. Effects on the people • It effects many people and left thousands homeless. • Many people were shocked when it occurred and no one say it happen. • No one had any time to prepare for the impact.

  15. Pico de Orizaba • This is the third highest peak in in north America and the highest in Mexico • It has 5636 meters above sea level and 18 490 feet it erupted in numerous years.

  16. Geologic Event • When me and my family went to visit our family in Mexico during the 07 year, we experienced a small part of the tornado. The tornado occurred by Eagle pass, Texas, but the strong winds near Mexico effected us. It killed 7 in Texas and 3 in Mexico. We were lucky that nothing happened to us.

  17. Impact on the people In 1985 an earthquake hit Mexico City. It was a magnitude of 8.1. The disaster caused 3 to 4 billion dollars in damage. 412 buildings collapsed and 3,124 were seriously damaged. in the city. About 10,000 people died. The nations capital was seriously damaged.
