MY ACT LOCAL PROJECT BY JOE JOHNSON

The Ronald McDonald House of Dallas provides a home away from home for families with seriously ill children receiving medical care. Families can stay for a minimal donation or for free if needed, thanks to generous contributions. Our bake sale raised $150 to purchase essential supplies for the House, and we collected 4,000 pop tabs for further fundraising. A tour of the facility deepened my understanding of its vital role in supporting families during challenging times, highlighting the importance of community involvement in helping those in need.

  1. MY ACT LOCAL PROJECTBY JOE JOHNSON THE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE OF DALLAS

  2. The Ronald McDonald House Story • The Ronald McDonald House was established to help families with children who are very sick. • Families can stay there while their child is getting medical treatment for a donation of below $20.00 per night or for free if they can not afford to pay anything. • They are able to do this due to the donations that they receive from individuals and companies.

  3. We had a bake sale • In order to help the Ronald McDonald House we had a bake sale and raised $150.00 • We purchased paper towels prepackaged muffins, granola bars, water, juice boxes, paper towels, toilet tissue, coffee and a few other items at Costco to take to them.

  4. We collected pop tabs • With the help of family and friends we collected 4000 pop tabs that the Ronald McDonald House is able to turn in to companies for donations.

  5. We took a tour • In order to better understand what they do for the families that are staying there we where given a tour of the house.

  6. I now understand how important it is to help others. • By going to the Ronald McDonald House I realized how important it is to help others. I saw all the photos on the wall of the sick kids that where helped by them and how they might not have been able to get better with out the help they received. It would be very sad if a kid who is sick could not get better because no one was willing to help!
