  1. Egyptian Gods + the Afterlife By Valentina

  2. The Egyptian Religion • The Egyptians believed in lots of gods. Egyptian gods represent something: the moon, the sun and many more.

  3. The Gods • Here are some of the gods! • Amon-Ra is the god of the sun and the supreme god. • Osiris was the king and judge of the afterlife. • Isis was Osiris’s wife and is the goddess of the moon.

  4. More Gods • Horus had a head of a hawk and had the pharaoh's crown on his head. • Anubis was the god of embalming and he had the head of a jackal. • Ma’at was the goddess of truth, justice and she always had an ostrich feather in her hair.

  5. Mummies • The Egyptians believed in life after death called Afterlife. • When a pharaoh dies, the high priests put some special oils on the body and take the important organs out of the body. After, they wrap the body with strips of linen.

  6. The Burial • The Pharaoh was always buried in a pyramid or in an underground tomb in the Valley of the Kings. All the tombs were always on the western side of the Nile.

  7. The Afterlife • When the Pharaoh first arrives into the underworld, he has to go through some security checks. He got welcomed by the goddess Ma’at and was taken to Osiris’s court.

  8. More about the Underworld • After, Ma’at put a feather on one side of the weighing scale and the king’s heart on the other. If the Pharaoh committed no sins, the heart and the feather would weigh the same, the king had earned eternal life. If it weighed more, his heart would be devoured by a terrible beast.
