On an average day the Canteen would go through: • 160-175 loaves of bread • 100 pounds of meat • 15 pounds of cheese • 2 quarts of peanut butter and other assorted sandwich spreads • 45 pounds of coffee • 40 quarts of ice cream • 500 half pint bottles of milk • 25 dozen rolls • 20 birthday cakes • untold numbers of magazines, cigarettes, etc. • People of the southern Colorado towns of Fairfield, Haxton, Holyoke, Julesburg, Ovid and Sedgewick also gave donations and volunteered in the Canteen.
