The Heart of Georgia Advanced Manufacturing & Distribution Region encompasses Bleckley, Dodge, Johnson, Laurens, Telfair, Treutlen, Wheeler, and Wilkinson Counties. Under the leadership of Project Manager Bill Blanton and team members Judy Madden and Leigh Evans, the region focuses on talent management, with top job opportunities identified for assembly operators, material handlers, and maintenance roles. The Heart of Georgia College and Career Academy, opening in August 2011, aims to equip students from local schools for these careers. Over 200 industry employees have been trained through partnerships with local companies.

Career Pathways The Heart of Georgia College and Career Academy will open in August of 2011. The academy will include students from Dublin City Schools, Laurens County Schools, Bleckley County Schools and Wheeler County Schools.
Industry Networks Heart of Georgia Technical College trained over 200 current industry employees through the GWRRIN funding. Employees participating came from Alcoa Architectural Products, Ocmulgee EMC, Husqvarna Outdoor Products, Parker Aerospace and Fred’s Distribution Center.
