  1. Mathematics vocabulary By: mikailiwilson

  2. Integer An integer is a whole number (not a fraction) that can be positive, negative, or zero.

  3. Rational number Any number that can be made by dividing one integer by another.

  4. Scientific notation A method of writing or displaying numbers in terms of a decimal number between 1 and 10 multiplied by a power of 10.

  5. Perfect square An integer that is the square of an integer.

  6. Irrational number Any real number that cannot be expressed as a ratio between two integers.

  7. Real numbers A number that is rational or irrational, not imaginary.

  8. Density property The quantity of something per unit measure, especially per unit length, area, or volume.

  9. Adjacent angles • Either of two angles having a common side and a common vertex.

  10. Coefficient • A numerical measure of a physical or chemical property that is constant for a system under specified conditions such as the coefficient of friction.

  11. Distance Formula • The extent of space between two objects or places; an intervening space.

  12. Domain The set of all possible values of an independent variable of a function.

  13. Hypotenuse The side of a right triangle opposite the right angle.

  14. Legs of a right Triangle Legs on a triangle are usually known as point A an point B

  15. Range The area or sphere in which an activity takes place.

  16. Slope To move on a slant; ascend or descend

  17. Prism A solid figure whose bases or ends have the same size and shape and are parallel to one another, and each of whose sides is a parallelogram.

  18. Scatter plot Mathematics & Measurements / Statistics) Statistics a graph that plots along two axes at right angles to each other the relationship between two variable quantities, such as height and weight

  19. Slope intercept form An algebraic equation, such as y = 2x + 7 or 3x + 2y - z = 4, in which the highest degree term in the variable or variables is of the first degree. The graph of such an equation is a straight line if there are two variables.
