The recent launch from the Colorado Space Grant Consortium was a critical milestone for participating teams. This recap includes a comprehensive overview of events, highlighting successes and failures encountered during the flight. Moving forward, teams are encouraged to engage deeply with their data, address failures, and prepare for upcoming presentations. Important deadlines for reports, video submissions, and design expo attendance are also detailed. Guest lectures and hands-on testing of spacecraft components are integral to enhancing future missions.

  13. Launch Recap:

  14. Survey Says… • Who didn’t get pictures? • Who didn’t get any mission data? • Who didn’t get any HOBO data? • Who had a major failure during the flight? • Who lost equipment/hardware? • Who is happy? • Who didn’t have a great time on Sunday?

  15. So you now have launched something into space…

  16. …now what are you going to do?

  17. Now What To Do: - START working with your data (or lack of data) - FULLY UNDERSTAND what happened and WHY

  18. Now What To Do: - VERIFY FAILURES through testing - WORK HARD to understand what the balloon flight told you - DON’T PANIC – You can still get an A if you do the above well (Spider) - HARDWARE turn-in is 12-06-11 - PREPARE your BalloonSat for re-flight (within reason)

  20. Design Overview

  21. Design Overview Heater HOBO Motor Basic Stamp Camera HB 25

  22. Image Tests • The imaging tests were successful in that the camera was able to focus on the mirrors. The window for the camera had to be enlarged so that it had a view of the bottom mirror. After this alteration the platform and camera worked together well. Before Mod After Mod

  23. System Testing: The Camera • The camera was tested individually to test its ability to focus on the mirrors and take pictures at five different angles. These tests were successful.
