  1. Logos: The fast food industry has changed the face of American culture. It has changed our diets, the popular culture and our daily life. Fast food by no means is healthy and has progressively gotten worse throughout its existence. Fast food companies churn out hamburgers and fries at a low price not caring about the consumer’s health. In the books it states “McDonald’s was hardly a promoter of whole foods and psychedelia.” They make food that tastes good which makes the restaurant more appealing leading to more transactions in the future. Many fast food restaurants switched from the use of real potatoes to frozen bags of precooked fries. “But the canning, freezing, and dehydrating techniques used to process food destroy most of its flavor.” Due to this these restaurants who are known for their delicious food are faced with a dilemma. The emergence of flavor companies is seen where, ”bottles contained powerful but fragile flavor chemicals”. The use of chemicals is introduced to solve their problem. The fast food industry has influenced and continues to influence popular culture in America. The introduction of Ronald McDonald and the play places have made McDonalds the place that every young kid wants to eat lunch at. “Scott came up with the name Ronald McDonald, and a star was born.” Kroc was looking to build an amusement park that would rival Disney Land but he soon scrapped that plan after being talked out of it by McDonald’s executives. He then decided it would be better to take a decentralized approach. “It built small Playlands and McDonaldlands all over the United States.” The daily life of Americans changed with the growing empire of fast food. The Speedee Service System made people even lazier. It made getting fast food even easier. In the beginning people did not understand the system but once it caught on it flourished. “The McDonald brothers’ Speedee Service System revolutionized the restaurant business.” An ad of theirs seeking franchisees later spelled out the benefit of the system: “Imagine – No Carhops – No Waitresses – No Dishwashers – No Bus Boys – The McDonald’s System is Self- Service!”
