VMware Snapshots: • VMware snapshots is nothing but the copy of virtual machine’s disk file (VMDK). • Mainly VMware snapshots are used as an alternative for the Virtual disk and it also used to run a virtual machine during a failure or system error. • But it is not capable of providing backups alone.

  3. VMware Tips For Snapshots: • Don’t use a snapshot more than 72 hours. • VMware Snapshots are well known for storage impact, so using snapshots needs extra IOPS and even more for removing it. • VMware supports 32 snapshots per chain, try limit the number to 3 per chain for effective performance.
