  1. Glades Middle SchoolBoston Trip April 30 – May 3, 2012

  2. Things to bring…. CLOTHING • Bring clothes for each day of your trip (4 days). • Be prepared for weather extremes, such as rain or wind with cooler than expected temperatures. To help you in planning clothes for the trip, average temperatures in Boston, MA during the month of May are a high of 66 and a low of 50 degrees Fahrenheit. • Students may wear comfortable clothing appropriate for touring and during most of the trip. • Please wear comfortable walking shoes. (Students who wear flip flops usually get painful blisters).

  3. OTHER CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES • Rain gear/Folded up poncho with a hood • Sweater and/or jacket • Pajamas PERSONAL ITEMS OTHER (some are optional) • Backpack for bus ride • Spending money (snacks, souvenirs, etc.) • Soap/Deodorant • Shampoo • Camera/Batteries/Charger • Comb/brush • Notebook for Boston journals/pencil • Book • Toothbrush/Toothpaste

  4. Once your luggage is stowed under the motor coach, you will not have access to items packed inside until hotel check-in. • On the final day of the trip, you will not be able to get in your luggage until you arrive at home. • Make sure all you need (camera, batteries, money, a change of clothes, etc.) is in your backpack that you take on the bus.

  5. VALUABLES ON THE TRIP: • Trip participants assume full responsibility for any valuables brought along on the trip. Unless there is a room safe, DO NOT leave valuables in your hotel room while touring. • Even though the motor coach will generally be locked when the group or the driver is not on board, it is recommended you leave any valuables not needed on the trip at home. SPENDING MONEY: • Don't forget spending money to purchase souvenirs, snacks, and miscellaneous items.

  6. THINGS TO LEAVE HOME: • Portable DVD Players • Laptops • High Caffeine Drinks (Rock Star, Monster, Mountain Dew, etc...) • Bathing Suits (There is no time for swimming) • Anything remotely resembling a weapon or look-alike

  7. April 30 - DEPARTURE • Meet at Glades Middle School at 4:15 am. • Bus will be leaving at 4:45 am SHARP!!

  8. CARRY-ON ONLY!! *American Airline's Carry-on Policy is: One small carry-on plus one personal item per passenger as long as the carry-on bag fits comfortably in the sizer (at the ticket counter) and must not be forced and does not exceed 45 inches (22 " Long + 14" Wide + 9" tall). Personal items can be purse or back pack that fits under the seat in front of you.

  9. No liquids or lotions with more than 3 oz. • If they exceed that and bring larger bottles they will be told to throw it out or to check in their bag at their expense.

  10. Things to remember…. Final payment of $250 is DUE Wednesday, March 20th! Medical Authorization Form is DUE to Mrs. Sheets no later then Thursday, March 21st. Check with your teachers for any assignments you may be missing while in Boston. This is a Broward County School Board approved field trip, therefore the Student Code of Conduct still applies while in Boston. Your are representing Glades Middle School & Broward County.
