Algorithm for Overlapping Clusters in PrimEx: Mechanisms and Simulation Analysis

This research investigates the clustering mechanisms and algorithms for overlapping clusters in the PrimEx experiment. It details simulation studies with γ-rays of varying energies (1-10 GeV) and examines the correlation between GEANT energy and energy recorded in HyCal. The study includes the reconstruction of cluster positions and energy calibration, demonstrating a high level of agreement with expected GEANT values. It explores the relationship between the probability of cluster separation and the distance between them, contributing to a better understanding of the PrimEx experimental setup and software.

  1. Research algorithm of overlapping clusters in PrimEx By Victor Tarasov

  2. Main purpose To look how works • 1) mechanism of clusterization in PrimEx • 2) algorithm of overlapping clusters in PrimEx

  3. Simulation 1 gamma with Energy 2 GeV, X=11 cm, Y=15 cm E= 1.99±0.04 • X= 10.98±0.18 • Y=14.99±0.16

  4. The dependence between GEANT energy and energy in HyCal (for 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 GeV)

  5. Simulation of 2 gammas with energies 1 and 10 GeV; 3 and 8 GeV X1 = 5, Y1 = 15 X2 = -5, Y2 = 15 in both cases • Reconstruct position (X and Y) have a values with good agreement relatively GEANT values in error limits

  6. Energy calibration in PrimEx

  7. Check position and energy for 1 gamma in GEANT energy range 0.5 - 8 GeV GEANT X=11 Y=15 in all cases

  8. Table with values for 1 gamma simulation

  9. Extreme position GEANT HyCal E = 2 GeV, E =(1.99±0.04) GeV • X = 32cm , X=(32.01±0,22) cm • Y = 32cm, Y=(32,04±0,24) cm

  10. Double check for 2 gammas GEANT E1 = E2 = 5.5 , X1 = -5, X2 = 5, • Y1=Y2=15, HyCal E = 5.56±0.08, X1 = -4.96±0.16, X2 = 4.97±0.16, • Y =14.98±0.12,

  11. Overlapping clusters Simulation 2 gammas with fixed Energy (1 and 4 GeV) and different distance between them: 2,3,4,5 and 6 cm

  12. |Egeant/Ehycal-1| < 2·σ,where σ is energy resolution in researching diapason of energy Dependence between probability to separate 2 clusters and distance between them

  13. Conclusion Connection with PrimEx experiment a) Examination with PrimEx setup b) Examination with PrimEx program software, look how GEANT and prim_ana (main program for analyzing in this experiment) works Look for mechanism of reconstruction coordinate and energy Research mechanism of overlapping clusters
