The multicultural Norway 2013 • 700.000 immigrants = 14% of the population • Substantial immigration since 2005 from EU member countries such as Lithuania, Poland and Romania • 28% of Oslo’s population have an immigrant background. In 2040 estimated to reach 47% • There are immigrants in all municipalities in Norway

  4. The Multilingual Library is a centre of expertise for multilingual library services • 13 employees from Norway, Poland, Argentina, Pakistan, Iraq, and other countries • 25 freelance staff with diverse language expertise • Collection of 130,000 books, CDs, DVDs in 47 languages
