  1. 3rd Parties • Select a Third Party to research • What years was it active? • What were the issues that started this party and/or ended this party? • What events was this party involved with? • What is the history of this party? • Did it win any elections? If so, at what levels? • What was the party’s actual platform? • Even single-issue parties have stances on all the issues. • Who were the leading individuals of this party? • Were they politicians? People in other industries? Were they governors, state representatives, mayors, etc.? • What type of third party was this? • How effective was this party at accomplishing anything? • Did this party have a lasting impact on American politics?

  2. Poster • 1/3 – Writing • Must include the information from the previous page • 1/3 - Drawn images • Political cartoon, etc. • 1/3 - Pictures cut out or printed off • Those related to what your party stood or stands for

Scoring Rubric • 60 points • 10: the 1/3 requirements are met (this is an all or nothing grade); standard poster size requirement is met • 5: spacing on the poster (it must be balanced: no dead space or lopsidedness) • 45: each of the 1/3 requirements will be graded on the following scale • Writing (25 pts.) – neat, clear, factually accurate; this is the most important of the three elements. Your researched material must be completely covered and CORRECT. • Drawn images (10 pts.) – not everyone is an artist; however, what you draw must make sense to you party (its history, issues, people, etc.) • Pictures (10 pts.) – same as with the drawn images; these must accurately represent the party and its views
