Discuss your responses with someone at your table. 3. Then, discuss which LEAD indicators relate to giving effective feedback to teachers (e.g., HRL1)?

  5. Theory of Action If school leaders select, develop, and retain high performing teachers, and provide their teachers with ongoing feedback and supports, then teachers will be more effective at providing standards-based instruction and support to students and student performance will improve.

Mid-Year LEAP Timeline • Now – February – Teachers self-assess Professionalism and enter scores in Schoolnet • Once teachers finalize scores, school leaders may view in Schoolnet • OPTIONAL: Utilize Professionalism Google Doc to capture evidence • Dec – Feb – Host Mid-Year Conversations • Start with teachers without SPS • Jan 6– Student Perception Survey Results available • Early Jan – Probationary Guidance data tool available • Jan – Pre-budget meetings with HRSP • Feb 28 – Last day to host Mid-Year Conversations

Mid-Year Conversation Process • School leaders schedule Mid-Year Conversations with teachers • Teachers self-assess and enter scores on Professionalism • School leaders assess teachers on Professionalism • Conduct Mid-Year Conversation • “No surprises” check-in • Opportunity to provide feedback • Professionalism scores NOT counted toward the final LEAP score • Adjust Professionalism scores as necessary

  10. Mid-Year Conversation Tools With an elbow partner or your school team: Take 10 minutes to walk through: -MYC Guide -Professionalism Rubric -SPS Primer Put a starnext to things you will use to prepare for and/or execute conversations

  12. Professionalism Rubric • Revised based on feedback from the field • Mirrors observation rubric by providing an evidence guide • Integrates icons to show which indicators reflect key instructional values and practices (ELLs, CCSS, 21st century skills, etc.)

Practice • Choose scenario from page or real school scenario (30 sec) • Choose roles (duo or triad) (30 sec) • A: Leader • B: Teacher • C: Observer (optional) • Role Play (3 min) • Give ‘A’ feedback (2 min) (1 thing you did well…1 thing to try next time) • Repeat Role Play incorporating feedback (2 min) • Switch • Score Scenarios 1 and 2 on professionalism (at your table) • At your table, discuss your scores and come to consensus
