  1. HESI Mobility Refresher Training Improving the process for Staff and Students

  2. HESI Mobility Changes HESI Mobility Before HESI Mobility After Students do not sign in. Daily test counts will be added to Nursing column on test log No spreadsheet. Scores are recorded on intake card Must have log in information for Evolve prior to testing For larger test groups (15 or more), students will be called/emailed to “schedule” an appointment We now assign access codes to first time testers as they come in to test Students will now watch a PowerPoint (PPT)presentation before testing with important information like CNAA • Students logged into TSIS • Students created Evolve account on the day of testing • Frequent no shows impacting staff and students • Students unclear as to what to study or what the test was about

  3. Why are we assigning codes? • Study material is only available to students after all access codes for the tests are used. By assigning codes as students arrive, we will be able to use an entire series of access codes more efficiently and not rely so strongly on student attendance. Even with no-shows we will be able to use up codes so students can access materials before retesting.

  4. What hasn’t changed? • Students still must be in to test by 5PM Monday-Thursday and 12PM on Friday. There are no exceptions!! • Remember the exam is 3 hours and many students will need the full time, even if they think they can finish sooner.

  5. Setting up for HESI Mobility Exams • Where should we set up Mobility? • Select the side that is less busy so we can provide extra support for Mobility students. • Regardless of where we set up, the Mobility PPT is on all the computers and the IP addresses are selected to cover any computer at the Test Center. • How many stations should we set up? • Three stations earlier in the week; more on Thursdays and Fridays depending on the roster and how many students have already tested. • Where can we get Mobility information? • The Nursing drawer is where the Mobility materials and information are stored. The Nursing guide for Staff member is also located there. • What materials do students get? • Two pieces of HESI Mobility scrap paper • A simple calculator • Pencil(s) • Eraser (if available) • How do we access the PowerPoint? • Click on the LPN-RN Mobility PPT icon on the desktop. Make sure the presentation is ready to view.

  6. Intake Process • When the student arrives, have the student put all belongings into a locker except for a photo ID and Evolve Account information. • If student does not have an Evolve account, have the student create an account. No student will be allowed to test without this information. • Assign the student an access code. Refer to the access code assignment sheet for the codes- write the student’s last name next to the assigned code and then write this code on the student’s white intake card. Please note some testers will already have an access code assigned on the roster. • Explain to the student the importance of reviewing the PowerPoint before testing as it has important information. • Students are then to enter the testing room and review the PowerPoint presentation. • The final slide of the PowerPoint presentation contains a link to www.hesiinet.com. The student should select “Take my Exam”, enter username and password, the access code, and hit “run.”

  7. Troubleshooting Tips • Always use Internet Explorer • If the student cannot access HESIINET • Check to see if they have clicked the link on the last slide • Is the computer restricted by Netsupport? • If all else fails, open Internet Explorer and type https://hesiinet.com • Access Code isn’t working • First, check the code was entered correctly. Letters are not case sensitive, but sometimes the number 1 is mistaken for the letter L and zeros will always be 0, not the letter O. • Student requested information on what to do after testing • Students will receive a follow email after they have tested. There is a template on the Test Center email account.

  8. For more information • Please refer to the Staff Nursing Guide that is kept at the front desk on the Academic side. This handy resource has information on all Nursing assessments with detailed steps on how to successfully administer the CNAA or HESI Mobility exams. • Request more training at http://teamtestcenter.weebly.com/feedback-and-suggestions.html
